My name is Kenya Petrice Weary.  I am a mother of two beautiful children (Maya – 16 and Jacob – 6).  I am a native of Montgomery, AL and have lived here all of my life.  I love reading, teaching, watching documentaries, playing Scrabble, Facebooking, and spending time with my family.  My favorite color is red.

I am currently in my 6th year of employment at E. D. Nixon Elementary School in Montgomery, AL.  I taught 3rd grade for 4 years and am now the Math and Writing Coach for grades K-6. The school building is only about 10 years old and it replaced the school that I attended as an elementary student. One of the points of pride for our school is that we were named an Alabama Torchbearer school in 2007 and again this year 2011.  Before receiving a Bachelor’s degree from Auburn University Montgomery, I was a preschool teacher with the Head Start Program.  I am seeking a Master’s degree in Elementary Education at this time.

My favorite technology would be the interactive whiteboard along with the wireless slates.  I enjoy these because the offer a great level of flexibility for both students and teachers.

  1. Hi! I am Heather Beasley. I am in your blog group. I am also seeking my masters degree in Elementary Education. I have taught 3rd grade and am presently teaching kindergarten. I enjoy the Whiteboard technology as well in my classroom. Good luck in this class!

  3. It's interesting to know that you were once a preschool teacher. Kids are so innocent and naive at that stage and it seems as if they always find a way to steal your heart. I look forward to blogging with you.
